“MATS provides an opportunity for our dealers and customers to get together and see what’s new in the industry,” said Larry Roland, Utility’s Director of Marketing. “The show is a great venue for us to showcase our products and speak to the individuals who have made our industry what it is today.” 2013 marks Utility’s 37th year exhibiting at the world’s largest heavy-duty trucking show. The annual show began with the Young family when Paul K. Young brought MATS to Louisville, Kentucky in 1972. With only 4,000 attendees and 83 exhibitors, the show only occupied a small portion of the West Wing of the Kentucky Exposition Center in its first year. Paul’s grandson, Toby Young now manages the annual event, which will remain at this venue through 2020.

Over 40 years later, the show now encompasses approximately 1,200,000square feet of exhibit space with over 1,000 exhibitors, and 78,337 attendees. Utility showcased both the 4000D-X Composite® dry van and the 3000R® reefer trailer with Utility’s new USS-120A-4 advanced aerodynamic side skirts. Both trailers displayed new graphics that debuted the 2013 marketing campaign highlighting Utility’s knowledgeable and experienced dealer network.

For the third consecutive year, Utility’s premier customer event was held at the Muhammad Ali Center in Downtown Louisville. Over 200 of Utility’s customers and dealers attended the dinner reception. “Overall this year’s event and show was a huge success. We intend to make a even bigger presence next year as we celebrate Utility’s 100th Anniversary,” said Roland. Next year’s Mid-America Trucking Show will be March 27 – 29, 2014.
