Clearfield Plant Manager, Steve Smith retires this year

42 Years with Utility Steve Smith, Plant Manager of the Utah factory in Clearfield, recently retired after 42 years of service. He began in January 1972 with Utility as a welder, building rear sub assemblies and worked his way up the organization. For the past 26 years, Steve managed the Utah facility as Plant Manager overseeing the first reefer factory before its close in 2001 and the current facility, which was built specifically to manufacture the 3000R. Today, the Clearfield, Utah plant is one of the largest trailer manufacturing facilities in the world. Steve is looking forward to years of mountain biking, skiing and traveling with his family. “Utility is very thankful for Steve’s many years of dedicated service and we wish him a joyful retirement,” said Paul Bennett, CEO of Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company. Taking over Steve’s position is Todd Smith who was the Plant Superintendent of the Utah factory and has been with Utility since June 1977
