Utah’s Johnny Guizar Awarded Scholarship

Johnny is One of Four Recipients Nationwide

Ben Franklin said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” Johnny Guizar, who is on Clearfield, Utah’s Line 1 Floor Assembly, is making that kind of investment. He took the initiative to apply for a scholarship that is awarded annually by The Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA). This industry scholarship program awards up to 4 scholarships annually to industry employees and their dependents. “I let Johnny know that he had earned the TRALA Scholarship, and he was grateful for it because it will make it easier for him to complete his schooling. He also said that it shows him that hard work pays off,” said Joe Maylin, Human Resources Manager at Utility’s Clearfield Plant. “Johnny has been with Utility since 2015. He does everything from building the base to installing fillers and flooring on the 3000R reefer.”

“Congratulations are in order and we are excited for Johnny,” said Todd Smith, Plant Manager at Utility’s Clearfield Plant. “We encourage every employee to take advantage of the opportunities that are available to them, not only from our company, but also all those available from the associations and organizations we belong to.” TRALA Scholarships are available for employees or their children, and recipients can receive up to $5,000 over two years for vocational training as maintenance technicians. Johnny is using his scholarship to continue his schooling at Davis Applied Technology College to become a Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician.
