Utility’s Glade Spring, Virginia Dry Van Plant Recognized for Excellence in Safety

In 2020, Utility’s Glade Spring, Virginia manufacturing plant received the Southwest Virginia Alliance for Manufacturing (SVAM) Excellence in Safety Award. The Glade Spring plant was recognized for the second time by SVAM, having been named Manufacturer of the Year in 2014.

The Excellence in Safety Award highlights manufacturers that go beyond regulatory requirements to create a safer workplace. “We are proud to receive this recognition,” said Sam Cassell, Glade Spring Plant Manager. “I cannot say enough about the commitment of our team. They’ve heightened safety and well-being, but also step up to optimize our process of building dry vans. Maintaining a safe workplace is a top priority for us.”

SVAM is a non-profit organization that supports manufacturers in the region. SVAM’s main goal is to improve the image of manufacturing and increase the number of individuals pursuing careers in manufacturing. “We are incredibly grateful for the partnership we have with Utility Trailer Manufacturing Co. in Glade Spring. I have worked with several employees at the Glade Spring plant and every person has been knowledgeable and supportive of the mission of SVAM,” stated Lennie Gail Mitcham, Executive Director of the Southwest Virginia Alliance for Manufacturing, Inc.
